Een veel gevraagd certificaat in de Linux wereld is Redhat Certified Engineer. Nadeel van dit certificaat: het geld alleen voor Redhat en niet voor overige Linux distributies. Daarom is er ook een algemene variant, namelijk: LPI (Linux Professional certificering). Dit kan je soms via je werkgever doen, maar je het kan ook zelf doen voor ~ €600 euro (cursus materiaal + examens) bij LOI voor CV building en dus verhogen van je marktwaarde!
Wanneer ik trouwens het cursus materiaal doorneem zie ik grote gelijkenis met de Linux vakken die ik ten tijde van mijn HTS Technische Informatica opleiding gevolgd heb, aangevuld met praktijkervaring van Linux Redhat 4 t/m 6, Redhat Fedora, Mandrake, Suse 6 t/m 9.2, Unix, Irix, FreeBSD, custom linux routers (binaire decompiling en customization), Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Knoppix, Geexbox, etc. Dus dat certificaat behalen in de loop van 2008 moet geen problemen vormen.
