My MacOSX upgrade thoughts

It’s no secret I’m in love with MacOSX for many years already, however I do not have a Mac OS at the moment. The only reason why is: money, and that I need to have Microsoft Windows for a certain set of applications.

What if I had the required money? Would a buy a Mac? Myeah, if it had a touchscreen I would. Regretfully it doesn’t. So what am I supposed to do? Buy the Samsung NC10 netbook, couple it with a Touchscreen kit and get the less legal MacOSX86 with the whole bunch compatibility issues? And thus losing the greatest advantage of the MacOSX platform (no frigging tweaking required)? Maybe …

Or buy a Mac Mini with a 22″ 3M Touchscreen? Twice the cost, but 4 times the power in speed. And speed is nice when running WinXP in Parallels Desktop. “Why stuck with Windows”, you might ask? Well because of:

    • several proprietary .NET applications. Update: a solution might be found in Mono?

  • MSN Messenger webcam? A I’ve got that problem covered in using Mercury!

Then again … I have a Vista business laptop which runs all the Windows software. And I only need a Macintosh to enhance my multimedia studio @ home. Hmz … the choice is easy really, yet my IT brain is curious about the possibilities
