My Top 5 Nokia E63 apps

As I’ve been busy switching PCs all the time, I haven’t really had time to dig into buying which specific Apple iPhone or iPhone touch or iPad. Moreover, because my Nokia E63 is sim locked I haven’t been able to sell it.

Although the E63 seems to have a proprietary OS, it’s actually based on the 3rd edition of Symbian S60 OS. Thus there are plenty of sites with good free software. My favs are symbian-freeware.com and frees60.net

My list of currently installed apps:

    • Opera mini 5 web-browser

    • Google YouTube plugin

    • Google Gmail mobile

    • Fring for Skype-2-Skype, SkypeIN and SkypeOut calls (next to support for many other SIP providers) + Twitter

    • eBuddy mobile for my MSN, Yahoo, Facebook, Hyves chat protocols

  • JoikuSpot to turn my phone into a WiFi access point

More good news! Erlan.nl (a Dutch professional ‘sim unlocker’) is able to unlock the Nokia E63 with BB5 technology for just €15. Using SimYo I can then apply for a cheap phonenumber (with or w/o prepaid UMTS internet access).
