Serving The Planet

Gmail backup

For the past few years my primary e-mail account has been provided by Gmail. The best email box on the planet. However, what worried me is — that in the likely event of Gmail losing my e-mails (which never happened) — I do not have a backup (as I would have when using Outlook or Thunderbird for example).

That’s where http://www.gmail-backup.com helps us out. The software is far from finished and supposedly has a lot of bugs in the Linux client, no Mac OS X client, but it works great on Windows!

Right now it’s backing up around 8GB of my e-mail to a folder on my harddrive. And have the directory scheduled in my iDrive backup. So I’m setup for prevention instead of data failure!
